Cory Blindbarrow of Blindbarrow Crimefighting Couture, loves her work--from
tailoring bulletproof fabrics to engineering concealed weaponry. Kowtowing to the over-sized egos of her superhero clientele? Not so much.
Her newest client, Theo Richelieu, aka Prometheus Man, can see five minutes into the future. Unfortunately, nobody believes him. He's exactly the type that pushes Cory's buttons. But he's also quite talented at engaging (and disengaging) her snaps and zippers. As maddening as Theo can be, Cory can't deny their supernatural chemistry.
When a sniper targets Cory's colleagues, Theo appoints himself her protector. His know-it-all attitude soon has her ready to tattoo a bullseye on her forehead. If Theo is unable to convince the headstrong couturier she's the sniper's next mark, their happily ever after might never make it out of the design phase.

A seamstress of superheroes finds herself a target of a mad sniper, as well as the romantic target of a sexy superhero. This book basically shows a small sexy corner of the Superhero universe, more specifically: a DC-ish type of universe. We occasionally get references to people like Superman and the League (or the Guild, according to this book) which grounds our story in a world where superheroes are common place. This book focuses on the outer edges of that world by showing the lives of characters, who would be considered background players in traditional superhero comics. It shows them falling for each other and sexying the place up.
That being said, there isn't much romance in this book, there's some, but not a lot. Instead, there's a lot of lusty staring and rolling around on top of each other. Which is normal for this kind of book and isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact this book does that: sudden-attraction-let's-get-it-on thing quite nicely.
In between the sexy bits, is superhero action. It's not the capes and cowls type with the flying and the what not, but the kind that involves science fiction based characters who could die by gunshots chasing and being chased around the city.
I can't say anything particularly bad about this story or how it was written. It does what it needs to. Though it doesn't necessarily add anything new to the genre, it does provide good, decent (or indecent), entertainment for it's reader. Occasionally the author suddenly feels inspired and adds 3 big words within 2 adjacent sentences, but the easy tone of the writing is mostly maintained throughout.
I guess the only issue I have involves the epilogue (I wont spoil it but...). There's no reason for it. There's no reason to put that piece of additional detail in there. In fact, it detracts from the story by changing one main character's motivation into something less than good and more into the realm of creepy (and not in a good way creepy).
Don't get me wrong, I like this book. It's fun sexy reading. Even though the sexy bits aren't super-powered sexy, but more human-type sexy, it was written quite well. It's not one of those: describes everything going on but the kitchen sink type of books. We dont get detailed descriptions of everything friction-wise and bodily function wise, rather, just enough to get the sexy point across.
4 stars. Good story thats worth reading if you like your superhero side stories and side characters. And definitely worth it if you want to go deeper into the hot spicy bits.

Design and make crime fighting costumes for the superhero's. There are lots of different shops that do this but Cory Blindbarrow(now owner and designer) believes that Blindbarrow is the best. Her grandfather has taught her everything and her designs are one of a kind. She hasn't done any of the top 7 super hero's YET! Currently there is a shooter out randomly shooter people that are involved with some of the super hero's. Cory doesn't believe she is in any danger. So on her way to work as usual, she runs into Theo. When they get up to her office she realizes he is her next appt. Theo Richelieu AKA Prometheus man, can see 5 min into the future but is cursed that no one will believe him. 5 min is not a long time but maybe just longer enough to save someone. So when Theo suggests Cory get coffee up in her office instead of going and getting some in the coffee shoppe downstairs. Cory shrugs it off, up someone shoots up the coffee shop. As things unfold, Theo and Cory realise 2 possible things, the chemistry between them is over powering and 2 is the shooter after Cory?
A very funny, sexy book by Lila Shaw! The story line is fun ,original. and easy to follow. The characters, you feel the sexual tension form the beginning between them.
