Emily and her Aunt Gemma are two very special women. They see into the spiritual realm and commune with angels. With this exciting tale, reminiscent of the great Frank Peretti’s This Present Darkness, debut author Gentry portrays in realistic terms the angelic and demonic creatures who inhabit our world, and why.

A centuries-old battle, waged in the heavenly realm between the forces of good and evil, is fast reaching a flashpoint in Hook Pond. Demon Prince Azelius has a centuries-old stronghold over the family of Senator Brad Steel, whose goal is to become President of the United States, a goal Azelius wants him to achieve. Azelius wants the senator’s son as well, but someone is praying and interfering with his plans. That someone must be silenced, permanently.

When young Bradley Steel finds the Lord, he goes through a profoundly life-changing experience. He is overwhelmed with the need to ask forgiveness for an adolescent transgression that has haunted his life. Marta forgives him and promises forgetfulness as well. They become friends and eventually fall in love and marry. Bradley goes to Afghanistan as chaplain and is critically wounded in an explosion, but a pregnant Marta is told of his death.

With the presidential election drawing near, Senator Steel makes his bid, and threatened with exposure of past misdeeds including adultery and kidnapping ending with murder, he utilizes his demonic connections to summon the Ba’al and a shaman priest.

A spine tingling ending that will have you cheering.

The Gift of Light Revised The Gifts Book 1 eBook Jen Gentry

I met the warrior angels of Frank Peretti during a very dark time of spiritual warfare in my life. I've never forgotten that first glimpse. Jen Gentry has taken her God given gift and reminded me just how much our Father loves us, and that at no time are we alone... even when it might look like it. No spoiler alert here....but I can only say whether I meet Jesus as Mr. Perry does or as we see Him at the end of this first book, I know without a doubt I WILL see Him!

I liked the story. I could be improved with more showing and less telling. It also needs proofreading, or maybe I should say formatting. Indentation for new paragraphs seems almost random. What it does well is to show us something of the spiritual reality that we don't usually see around us, and encourage us to pray and study God's word.
When I started the book, the tale seemed like a comic book superhero creation...and it is. However, it's much more than that. Some will gritch about the blatant Christian Truth which is evident throughout the story. But it's a book sharing Truth about spiritual warfare. Yes, it remains on the comic book superhero track. But I expect that just makes it more palatable the many. It's a fun read yet edifying. Recommended!
Interesting story. Personally written characters. Good first glimpse into the fact that we fight not against flesh and blood. Or, if that is understood, then a good reminder of how important our prayers are.
Noticed only minimal typos toward the end, easily understood anyway.
For anyone interested in spiritual things.
I recommend thus book and author.
This book did not disappoint as a Christian novel nor did it disappoint as a suspense novel. It pointed to Christ, glorified God and held you in page-turning suspense. Great read! On to book #2.
This is a wonderful book. It's theme regards the relationship between Angels and Humans. As much as I love Angels, it had never occurred to me to pray for them, and I've started doing this practice now, asking my roommates to do so, too.

Since the Angels are not depicted as perfect Beings who always get it right, this strengthens the plot considerably and creats an atmosphere of suspense. The Human characters grow considerably through their travails and sincere desire to lead a life based on love for God and Lord Jesus.

Another aspect of the book is the power of prayer that can support another person and help change their life. Destiny is a strong theme as well, showing that we don't always know what our destiny is or that of another, so it is a good idea to be open to all possibilies in our lives.

I recommend the book. It is enjoyable, sometimes a nailbiter, moves very fast, and keeps the reader very engaged in the story. It definitely is from a Christian viewpoint and can be enjoyed by everyone, no matter what belief system is adhered to. I'd like to read the next one, also. Thanks!
It's a very interesting read. Even though there are some theological points in the book that I do not agree with, the basic premise about the power of prayer and the reality of the battle between forces of good and evil is very well portrayed. The book covers a lot of years so there is a good deal of skipping, but the reader doesn't feel like they are missing important information. After reading the first one, I immediately started reading the second book in the series.
I am always intrigued by stories of angels guiding human lives. In this book angels and demons duke it out to save the righteous. The twist this book has is that some of the humans can see them and interact with them. The depiction of angels rings true to other novels by other authors. Makes you wonder if there is some truth to it all. You might be able to guess the ending, but how it gets there is the adventure. I'm looking forward to reading book 2, "The Gift of Knowledge".
